The White House, part of which dates back to early Georgian times (1720), nestles on the edge of the picturesque village of Little Bedwyn in the historic county of Wiltshire
(see How to find us). Our garden borders onto the ‘towpath’ of the Kennet & Avon Canal at Lock 67 beyond which is the railway line linking London with the West Country.
Bed and Breakfast at The White House is ideally suited to anyone desiring a ‘home away from home’. Whether you are visiting the area on a sightseeing, walking, cycling or touring holiday, or on business …or simply planning to sample the delights of the acclaimed Michelin* restaurant, The Harrow, (www.harrowinn.co.uk) (which is a mere 200 yards from The White House), you can be sure of a warm welcome, superb comfort and luxurious pampering during your stay with us.
Other local facilities and attractions: There are also several other restaurants and pubs within a short drive, to suit varying tastes and ‘pockets’ – and numerous local tourist attractions – including the celebrated Watermill Theatre (www.watermill.org.uk) – in an area that is steeped in ancient history and beautiful countryside.
Location: By car, we are only 10 minutes from the town of Hungerford in Berkshire, 20 minutes from Marlborough in Wiltshire and just 5 minutes from Great Bedwyn railway station to which there are regular trains from London.
Heathrow Airport is just 1¼ hours away, Gatwick Airport under 2 hours, Southampton Airport about 1 hour and Bristol Airport just over 1½ hours – from and to all of which we are able to arrange transport if required (see Transport and How to contact us).
Quality in Tourism: ”Visit Britain’s” National Quality Assessment Scheme has again awarded The White House a 4-Star Silver Award and Enjoy England Breakfast Award rating for 2011.
